#1. Black Finish Compact Student Desk Measurements: 42 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 36.75 inches high. This compact computer desk has a very sleek design that is well suited for a small home office or a teenagers’ bedroom. It has plenty of storage capabilities. What strikes me most about this office desk is that it has such a simple, elegant design that is suitable with almost any home interior style, save perhaps for a very traditional one. It doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles; it just has what is needed from an office desk and nothing more.

#2. Winsome Wood Computer Desk, Honey Measurements: 42 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 29 inches high. Talk about having no bells and whistles. This minimalistic desk is slightly smaller than the previous desk, but as you can see does not have as much storage space. It’s basically a writing desk with a fake drawer behind which is a hidden keyboard slide. It doesn’t have a lot of extra space, besides what you need to store your monitor. You can get an accompanying printer stand, but that would just take up even more space. The wood finish looks impeccable though, so I highly recommend it for people that really only need to have a desk for their computer and not much else.

#3. Metal & Glass Computer Workstation Measurements: 23.6 inches wide, 17.75 inches deep and 30 inches high. This desk is not only very small, it also has the benefit of a glass surface. Glass furniture always gives a room the appearance of having more space. This is the smallest desk on this list, but compared to some of the other smaller desks, I still find this design quite pleasing.

#4. Winsome Wood Writing Desk, Honey Measurements: 30 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 34.8 inches high. The previous desks have all been computer desks, but for some of my readers their work may not involve a computer. In that case I wanted to include at least one writing desk in this top 10. You will probably note that it is very similar to #2 in this list. I recommend it for the same reasons as that one. The difference is the drawers on this one are actual drawers, in which you can keep your writing utensils, paper, or whatever else you need.

#5. Winsome Wood Antique Walnut Rolling Computer Desk Measurements: 32.5 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 31.1 inches high. This is the third office desk in this list created by Winsome Wood. It’s very different from the previous ones though. As you can see the type of wood used has a darker color and it has wheels underneath the legs. This makes it very easy to move the desk aside when needed, which is helpful when you need a bit of extra space in a certain area of your room. Be careful not to slide it too far away from the outlet box as the wiring may be pulled out, or worse, it may pull something off the desk and break it.

#6. Coaster Contemporary Computer Office Desk, Silver Finish Measurements: 25 inches wide, 19.75 inches deep and 31.5 inches high. If saving space is your number 1 priority, then this is the desk for you. I personally don’t care much for its look, but it is one of the smallest desks in this list. If you need room for anything else, besides your computer (books, papers, etc.), I recommend you choose one of the other desks. Like the previous item in this list, this is a rolling computer desk. I will give you the same warnings not to roll the desk too far from the outlet box.

#7. Winsome Wood Foldable Desk, Natural Measurements: 40 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 30 inches high. Another Winsome Wood desk! This company has a real talent for making small desks for small spaces. I recommend this one for people who work on a laptop, as the real benefit of this desk is that you can fold it up when you’re not using it. Of course, the functionality of this would be greatly diminished if you’re working on a desktop computer. For laptop users though, it is ideal!

#8. Winsome Wood Bailey Leaning Desk with Shelves Measurements: 30 inches wide, 20 inches deep and 75 inches high. Winsome Wood again! This desk is not my personal favorite in this list aesthetically, but there’s no doubt this desk will save you some floor space. It only has 2 legs, which is something you don’t see everyday on a desk. It stays upright by leaning against the wall. If the desk alone doesn’t provide you with enough storage, then you can purchase matching shelves. (Of course you would have to sacrifice a bit more space)

#9. Target Marketing Systems Cambridge Computer Desk Measurements: 34.6 inches wide, 21.3 inches deep and 28.7 inches high. This desk is another one very well suited for small spaces, but not the most elegant looking of the bunch. It definitely serves its purpose though, as it will give you exactly enough storage for your computer, keyboard and monitor. Just don’t expect to fit much else on it. Like other desks on this list, it has wheels. This gives it the same functionality as the other ones, so I won’t repeat myself in that regard.

#10. Z-Line Belaire Glass L-Shaped Computer Desk Measurements: 60 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 37 inches high. This glass L-shaped computer desk is obviously much bigger than the previous three desks. It does not necessarily save space as much as the glass surface will give the room the appearance of having more space, which is also important. It also utilizes your corner space very well. It takes up more space than the previous two desks, but you get more workspace in return. Another benefit that is not unimportant is that is looks absolutely exquisite.

Wow. Half of the desks in this list were crafter by Winsome Wood. I swear I am not a spokesperson for the company. I hadn’t even noticed until I put them all together! Obviously, when it comes to small desks for small spaces, this is the company you go to.

I have to admit it was a rather hard list to put together, as I personally feel some of the desks in this list sacrifice aesthetics for saving space. I have given more weight to the latter than to the former though, as I believe the people that find this list will give more priority to it. It should not come as a surprise that the subway tile received its name from the iconic tiles that lined the subways in New York’s finest underground transit system. It is smaller than the previous listed table, and I doubt that more than 3 people will be able to dine on it simultaneously, but that makes it perfect for an apartment occupied by only 2 people. You’ll both have enough room, and the occasional visitor can even join you. You also won’t need your own toolbox to assemble this piece, because everything you need to do so comes with the package. The metal leg makes it very stable, and the MDF fiberboard top will last for a very long time.

Coaster Contemporary Oval Dining Table, Cappuccino Finish This oval table looks incredibly clean and stylish. Like the cappuccino finish table a lot of reviewers agree that it looks more expensive than it is. I believe this picture does it better justice though. If I had to choose judging only from these picture, I would probably pick this one. My affinity for round shapes may be the cause of this choice though. You can also purchase the chairs that are pictured with the table. But I recommend you only get 4, because seating 6 adults at this table will get a little cramped.

With all the articles about backsplashes lately, I thought it was time to show you some examples. Below are a few pictures of backsplashes in kitchens that I personally like a lot.

This backsplash is made of metal tiles. The person that installed it chose to only cover the wall directly behind the stove. I don’t know if I would necessarily install it this way, but it certainly looks very cool. In one glimpse people will see where the cooking area is. I only wonder if just covering that part of the wall is such a good idea, as it won’t prevent splatter from hitting the walls besides the backsplash.

This photo is a great example of a professional looking metal backsplash. Instead of tiles, the owner of this kitchen put stainless steel panels on the wall. This gives the wall a very pristine look. I’ve worked at a few restaurant in my time, and these kinds of backsplashes always remind me of their kitchens.

Now this is a very different backsplash from the previous two. It is made from glass mosaic tiles. I really like how this backsplash matches with the cupboards. You can tell that they put some thought into putting this kitchen together.

Tumbled tiles can really add a sense of character to a kitchen. I would definitely use these if my kitchen had a very traditional design. Looking at these tiles, you really get the feeling that there’s a lot of history behind them.

The way your home is decorated says a lot about your personality. When we step into your living room, we may see that you are a traditional or very modern person. If we see a lot of foreign style decor or souvenirs on the wall, we may assume that you are a worldly traveller. Even when you don’t put any thought or effort at all into your home interior, it will still speak volumes about you. If the living room is a cluttered mess, that’s just part of who you are.

While it is true that your home should reflect who you are, there is nothing wrong with considering other people’s thought and opinions about it. When you can’t decide on which piece of furniture to buy, there is no shame in getting a second opinion.
